Today is my 20th "Born Again" birthday! Even though I was raised in church, it wasn't until I was 15 years old, in the quiet of my bedroom that I accepted Jesus into my heart & meant it with all that I am. I was changed that day in a way that is indescribable! And Praise the Lord, He continues to change me. Being a "born again" Christian isn't about a one time change. It's about constantly evolving into who He wants you to be. I look back at the person I was when I was 15, 20, 25, 30 & now about to be 36...There are many chapters to "our story." I am grateful for every step we have walked side by side with His arm wrapped tightly around my shoulders. Throughout these 20 years there have been many mountain tops with exhilarating views & some very deep dry valleys. Each one has & continues to shape me. I have learned that a relationship with the Lord is not one that can be lived only from spiritual high to spiritual high. Not to disregard those, because they are quite amazing. But you can't sustain a relationship with only living for perfectly incredible moments. It's the consistency of life with Him, that is where the true relationship lies. It's in the weakest moments. The quiet times. It's the whispers from Him. It's the peace which transcend all understanding & the joy unspeakable joy. It's His grace & His unconditional love. Those & so many, many more things that make up who He is. I have learned along the way just what a friend I do have in Him. Someone I can say anything to, I mean...He knows my heart better than I do, right? You can't be anything but transparent with Him. I love that I can talk to Him non stop. I don't have to go somewhere to pray. I don't have to wait till Sunday morning in my best clothes to praise Him. I can do all of that whenever & wherever I please. Even if it's silently in my heart. What a mighty God I serve. Yet even in His mightiness....He is so accessible. I don't have to get cleaned up to meet with Him. I can come just as I am. Any time, Any where. He sees me. He knows me. He loves me. And I love Him. He is my everything. He is my hope. He is my heart.
As I'm writing this I am reminded of one of my most favorite worship songs. When I hear it. I feel every word as if I wrote it myself.
It's "You Are For Me" by Kari Jobe
You can fast forward to 50 seconds to go directly to the video.
Beautiful song! I believe every song that girl writes and sings is annointed! Thanks for sharing.
