Who’s Got Your Back?

One of my awesome friends sent this devotion to me...

Psalm 118:6

Every quarterback wants an impenetrable offensive line. Every job hunter wants an important name in the references section of their resume. Every little brother wants to know their big brother is behind them when the bully comes walking down the street. When facing challenges or adversity, it’s good to know that somebody’s got your back.

The Psalmist of Psalm 118 had enemies. He was in distress. He writes in verse 6: “The Lord is for me; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (NASB)

Fear can hinder us from boldly obeying God’s call on our lives. We fear losing face with those we admire. We fear rejection and persecution. We fear the things our enemy (Satan) may bring against us as we make the name of Jesus Christ known.

Cast fear to the wind today and say boldly, “The Lord is for me!” He is the God who created the heavens and the earth. He is the God who set the boundaries for the ocean. He is the God knows the movements of the beetle in South America and the thoughts you had on the way to work today. Boldly obey God’s leading today and do not fear. God is for you.
