Church was a very sweet event today. It was the retirement service of really the only pastor I have ever known. Pastor Cox has been at the church for 35 years. What an accomplishment! It's going to be so different going to church without him being there as the senior pastor. But I am hoping for good things in the future.
After church we went over to some friends house (the same ones we hung out with Tuesday night). I know it's hard to understand how there are LA people in Bama, but there are! And I think D knows them all. Haha! Another LA friend, Derek came up from Florida for a visit, so we got to see him & his family today also. D hasn't seen Derek in about 9 years. It's so interesting hearing their stories about life in LA, when they were teens. D was apparently the first one with a car in their circle of friends, so he drove everyone around. And they thought he was *so* much older than they were. When in reality he was only a couple of years. And let me just say, growing up on the streets of LA, is a far cry from growing up in the country of Alabama. Then there is the way D just lights up being around old friends. It makes me smile. Those that know D, know he is normally a pretty quiet fella, so it's cool to see him come out of his shell, so to speak. We had a great time & look forward to spending alot more time with John & Jennifer.
