Yesterday Mom & I went over to Beth's to make Christmas candy. I was especially excited about it, since my Granny always had a house full of Christmas goodies. There were those tin cans overflowing with divinity, fudge, potato candy & so on. And she made it all. Mom had never been one to make all of that stuff, that makes Christmas...Well Christmas! I have missed it so much. I haven't had good divinity since Granny passed away. But I wanted to learn to make it. That stuff is so finicky though & I have been a bit scared to try it.
Right after we got there, the mixer died! Debbie & I had to make a trip to Fred's. While out we went to the Pig for some PET milk. I also grabbed "Not So Sloppy, Sloppy Joe Sauce," since I can only get it there.
We just got started & look how dirty Mom already is!
Don't ask.

Renee's back was hurting so she wanted Debbie to walk on it...
But Vickie did instead!

A failed attempt at divinity.
It still tasted delish though! Just ask Mom.
Mom & Renee finally got the perfect batch! The failed batch, actually got repaired. And then Mom & I made another perfect batch!

Of course we had to lick the spoons!
Pure Heaven, let me tell ya! I'm gonna end up gaining some of this weight back, with this delightful stuff at my house. I just can't help myself. And it's even worse that I now know how to make it!!! Ignorance is bliss, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteI want to set the record straight.... Vickie put the hand prints on herself!! We are all innocent. Trust me. She was also the goofy one that put powdered sugar on me and candy on all of us! She kinda lost it there for a while. It was one crazy day.

I worked under Debbie and Beth at the CDC, and Renea's son, Jason was a year older than me at Kingwood Christian while her daughter was a year younger. Small world. I'm glad that I've gotten to know you through the blog world. It is funny how much of our worlds collide!!! (:
