I was super duper excited when I received my baby sling, in the mail a few days ago. I of course don't have a baby, but I will definitely use it when I DO have one. I have always admired baby wearing Mommas. I think it is so cool, to see a Mom, walking around with their little one cradled to them. I've also read alot of different Mommy blogs, talking about how they enjoy their baby slings.
I took mine over to Jamie's, to get her & Baby Sophie to be my models. Sophie is so tiny, she was almost lost in the sling, but she was absolutely adorable in it. I thought Jamie, looked so sweet walking around, with Sophie. Thanks girls, for taking the time to model for me.

While researching baby slings I came across this info about the benefits of baby slings...
The benefits of bonding with your baby while the two of you share the world around you is beyond measure. But here are some specific ways your little one will benefit from your new sling ...
• Your hands are free, even when baby needs your contact and attention
• Baby sees and experiences your active life
• Slings provide optimal physical contact.
• Babies that are carried regularly cry less. Additionally, studies indicate that babies worn in slings are less prone to develop fears of loss or loneliness. Thus, sling babies often become independent earlier.
• Suitable from birth to around three years.
• Slings allow you to wear your child in a wide variety of positions, depending on the weight of your baby and the length of your journey.
• Experts boast about its many virtues. Prof. Dr. Ernst J. Kiphard, Institute of Sport Science at the University of Frankfurt/Main, says about the slings:
"Infants who are carried around everywhere in this baby sling either on the hip, on the stomach or on their mother's back develop better than those who spend most of their time in a baby cot. This applies equally to their motor, cognitive and emotional development. Parents generally only rock their children when they want to calm them down or reassure them. Eminent pediatricians and orthopaedic specialists recommend the sling for the following reasons: the baby's eyes see very much more of their surroundings. This provides more stimuli for the infant's brain. The mother's movements stimulate all skin receptors but also the organs of movement and balance. Every time the centre of gravity shifts the reflexes of both the nerves and muscles are stimulated. The intensive eye- and body contact with the mother or father (because he too should carry the infant!) imparts a feeling of safe well-being whose psycho-social importance is immeasurable. …"
Good enough reasons to me for being a baby wearing Momma. :)

Just curious...Do you use a baby sling? Or did you at one time? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I am not going to say they weren't around when I had my 2, but I sure don't remember seeing them or them being such a big hype when I had my 2, but I definitely would have had one. I think they are so cool, and they have such a variety...love them.
ReplyDeleteOf course you know that I love slings!!! I'm so happy to see others out there promoting them!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes...LOVES it and still used when the boys got bigger. Which was a task at some moments since Kyan was such a boob man and he was sooo close to his Nee Nees. I'm going to make one soon to see if I can- so I can pick the fabric and have lots. My other one is blue.
ReplyDeleteThe pouch looks a bit big, let me know if you'd like to exchange it! That particular fabric can be shrunk about an inch if you'd prefer. Thanks!
